America First Credit Union Visa Platinum Rewards Card Credit Card Review

Overview

The America First Credit Union Visa Platinum Rewards Card is a visa card issued by America First Credit Union, based in Ogden, UT. As a credit union card, eligibility is usually tied to membership, which in turn is usually tied to where you live or who you work for.

If you are separating or co-parenting

These are the parts of this card that land differently when a household is becoming two. None of it is a recommendation — your own position decides that.

• Aimed at people rebuilding. This card was positioned for applicants with a thin or damaged file rather than a long one. That is the position separation often leaves someone in, particularly where the accounts were in the other spouse’s name. Ask the issuer what they currently require. How divorce affects a credit score.
• Ask what it costs to hold. One income is now covering two households, so an annual fee is a fixed cost worth knowing before you apply rather than after. Fees change, so get the current figure from America First Credit Union.
• Points on spending that is already shared. A large share of post-separation spending goes on the children, and much of it is reimbursed between co-parents afterwards. Whichever parent’s card pays keeps the points, which is worth agreeing rather than discovering. What counts as a shared expense.
• Membership is restricted. Credit union eligibility is usually tied to where you live or who you work for. Check you still qualify if the separation involves a move, and before counting on this card as your plan.

Conclusion

This review covers what the America First Credit Union Visa Platinum Rewards Card is and how its structure lands if you are separating or co-parenting. It deliberately does not quote an interest rate, an annual fee or a credit limit, because those are set by America First Credit Union, vary with your own creditworthiness, and change often enough that any figure printed here would be out of date before you read it.
