Alliance Credit Union Max Cash Preferred Visa Signature Card Credit Card Review

Overview

The Alliance Credit Union Max Cash Preferred Visa Signature Card is a visa card issued by Alliance Credit Union, based in St. Louis, MO. As a credit union card, eligibility is usually tied to membership, which in turn is usually tied to where you live or who you work for.

If you are separating or co-parenting

These are the parts of this card that land differently when a household is becoming two. None of it is a recommendation — your own position decides that.

• Ask what it costs to hold. One income is now covering two households, so an annual fee is a fixed cost worth knowing before you apply rather than after. Fees change, so get the current figure from Alliance Credit Union.
• Ask about the balance transfer rate. This card has carried an introductory balance transfer offer. That matters if your decree assigns you a share of a joint card balance, because moving the balance onto an account in your own name is what actually separates the liability — the decree binds your former spouse, not the bank. Why the decree does not bind your creditors.
• Points on spending that is already shared. A large share of post-separation spending goes on the children, and much of it is reimbursed between co-parents afterwards. Whichever parent’s card pays keeps the points, which is worth agreeing rather than discovering. What counts as a shared expense.
• Membership is restricted. Credit union eligibility is usually tied to where you live or who you work for. Check you still qualify if the separation involves a move, and before counting on this card as your plan.

More on money after a separation: rebuilding your credit · dividing debt · dividing property

Conclusion

This review covers what the Alliance Credit Union Max Cash Preferred Visa Signature Card is and how its structure lands if you are separating or co-parenting. It deliberately does not quote an interest rate, an annual fee or a credit limit, because those are set by Alliance Credit Union, vary with your own creditworthiness, and change often enough that any figure printed here would be out of date before you read it.

For the current terms, go to Alliance Credit Union directly. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau also publishes a free card comparison tool built from terms that issuers report twice a year, which is a better place to compare rates than any review page.
